Smart Teacher Workshop

It's a workshop for trainee teachers regarding the usage of SMART board as a teaching tool in the classroom. SMART board is an interactive whiteboard where it's connected to a computer. You can explore a website, give a science presentation or take a virtual field trip. The key to this experience is touch. You simply touch the surface to select menus and icons. To write notes, pick up a pen and write with either the pen or your finger. You don't need batteries or special tools that fail or go missing. It was indeed a tiring day as the workshop went from 9am-5pm. It was held at the various parts of the faculty of education,UM.
The first session was the most interesting and entertaining of all where trainer- Firuz gave us a lecture on basic understanding of psychology on e-learning environment. Firuz is a knowledgeable and witty lady. She knows what she is doing and is really good in it. "no one has ever fallen asleep during my lecture" and it was very true.
After taking a group photo, we moved to the multimedia lab and 'wow', UM has got the facilities to accomodate world-class standard of learning environment. So if you can't excel in UM, the problem is in you. UM has provided complete facilities for teaching and learning.
Then, came the luncheon part. Wasei, i wonder if the organisers who did this workshop and in charged of food and beverage were the same group. They did a fantastic job in organizing the workshop but what we got for lunch was rice with a slice of cucumber and egg. And of course, kuih ! Luckily i brought my bread. Ha!
Next, we had to prepare a lesson plan by incorporating some theories we learned in the first session and maximize the usage of SMART board. It was good but tiring. Before calling it a day, we registered ourselves as the Malaysia SMART board user group and we received a gift for that. Guess what, a 256mb pendrive!
Finally, heard that this board costs a few K (may be 8 or 9). Who cares...the ministry of Edu. gonna spend the money and we teachers are just gonna use it...adiosssssss
